Online Image Editors: Aviary’s Phoenix and Falcon make it simple

Aviary - Online Creative ToolsAviary, a New York based startup who has taken on the unenviable task of mimicing Adobe’s powerful creative tools online, has launched two great web-based image editors, Phoenix and Falcon, both of which are free and incredibly easy to use.

Phoenix, according to the company, “delivers the key features of a desktop image editor with the simplicity and accessibility of a web-based application.” Meant to go head to head with the design industry’s most recognized piece of software, Photoshop, Phoenix allows users the ability accomplish a wide range of tasks “from basic image retouching to complex effects” like masking, working with multiple layers and more.

For simpler web-related tasks, Aviary has recently launched Falcon “to quickly capture images and web pages from your browser and crop, resize or mark them up.” Along with Talon, a Firefox plugin that quickly lets you grab screen shots of the web, Falcon is perfect for editing images for a class website or blog.

Other online image editors: Photoshop Express and Sumo Paint.
